Adult Ministry

We have many ways to get involved here at St. John. If you have questions regarding any of these ministries feel free to contact the church office.

  • Prayer team  

    Last tuesday of the month at 7 pm

    The prayer team enjoys meeting to pray for healing on others, Intercessory prayers and specific prayers sent from members. If you'd like to be prayed for click here, if you would like to attend a prayer meeting join us!  Contact David Schultz for more information. 

  • Altar Guild

    The Altar Guild is made up of numerous smaller teams who tend to the details of our worship services. Making preparations for the Sacrament of Holy Communion, Holy Baptism and decorating the Worship Center are a few of their main roles.  If you’d like to join, contact Leslie Sullivan.

  • Helping HAnds

    The purpose of this team is to reach out to serve various needs of the congregation, including providing meals for members who are sick or in need as well as providing meals following funerals. Contact Lorene Kettler to get involved.

  • Health & Wellness

    Senior Stretch | 9:30 a.m. Tuesdays & Thursdays | Worship Center Commons

    Attention all Seniors! Classes will last for one hour and the routines will consist of chair aided exercises and stretches.

  • Music Ministry

    Our Music Ministry has two wonderful groups men and women can join!  The adult choir, Voices of St. John, sing 1-2 times per month and rehearse on Wednesday nights.  Our handbell choir, Celebration Ringers, plays monthly and rehearses on Monday nights.  If you are interested in joining, please contact Leslie Sullivan.

  • worship welcome team

    Primarily serving on Sunday mornings, this team is comprised of Greeters and Ushers. Greeters welcome individuals as they come for worship and are available to answer any questions that our friends and guests may have. Ushers generally serve for one month at a time during the service of their choice. They assist in seating for worship, hand out bulletins, collect offerings, and guide communicants to the altar during Communion. To be a part of this team, contact Leslie Sullivan.

    Theology on Tap

    Creekwood Grill | Wednesdays at 7 p.m.

    All men are welcome to Theology on Tap meeting at Creekwood Grill on Telge for biblical study/discussions and prayer.  “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” Prov 27:17  More information, contact Pastor Doria.


    Saturday Mornings

    Worship Center 101 | Saturday 8:00 a.m.

    Each Saturday morning we gather for a time in God’s Word, prayer and coffee. Led by Tim Hayes, we are currently working through the book of Daniel.  An exciting read about our exciting God who works powerfully in this world.

    Wednesday Night Live Women’s Bible Study

    AC 103 | Wednesdays at 6 p.m.

    The study is a video series called Anointed, Transformed, Redeemed by Priscilla Shirer, Beth Moore, and Kay Arthur. The books are $17 (love offering). Our own Karen Schulz and Kristine Angst will be leading the discussions. Child care available in the Worship Center Nursery.   

  • Dorcas guild

    The morning Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) group meets the first and third Thursday of each month at 9:30 a.m. in the Ministry Center. Dorcas Guild focuses their work and financial support on LINC projects and the mission work in Nepal. They continue to support Texas and World missions. All ladies of the congregation are invited to join this hard working group.

  • Sisters in service

    The evening LWML group meets on the first Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the Administration Center to share in a time of fellowship/refreshments, Bible study, and a short meeting.

  • Ladies Weekend

    The women's retreat is held once a year, we stay over the weekend and enjoy activities, games, and fellowship with each other! 

  • MEn's retreat

    Spend a few days fishing, golfing, playing washers, while becoming a tighter-knit band of brothers over the second full weekend in October. We will take time out to pray and worship together while enjoying each other and the outdoors.
