adult bible study communities

We offer several Bible Studies throughout the week also on Sunday mornings during the Bible Study Hour from 9:45 - 10:45 a.m.

  • True Riches 101

LEd by PAstor Bahn | Worship Center Commons

We are looking forward to beginning a new eight-week Adult Bible Study, True Riches 101. This study highlights St. John’s values, practices, and expression of the Christian faith as taught in the Lutheran Church. The Bible study is for all people who wish to become members of St. John. Although it is designed with a new believer in mind, it is a meaningful experience for long-time Lutherans as well. We pray that you will find it beneficial and edifying and look forward to having you join us!

  • 1 & 2 Timothy

    LED BY KEN GRAEBER | ADmin 101 & 102

Paul had placed Timothy in charge of the Church at Ephesus. His letters provide guidance for church leadership and for addressing practical issues and conflicts. Paul emphasizes the critical need for prayer and  devoted service along with defining qualifications for church leaders. The instructions to Timothy are clearly applicable to our Church today.

  • The Life and Ministry of Jesus

Led by DAVID STEELE | Admin 103

Draws from all four gospels and the Book of Acts to present familiar events in the life of Christ and his major teachings in a sequential order. The class begins with Jesus as the Word of God who was with God and was God through eternity, and ends with Jesus’ resurrection and ascension to return the Father to reign in glory.

  • God’s Grace in James

Led by PASTOR SCHULTZ & Bobby Goerner | Ministry Center Room 4

Although James is a plea for practical Christian living, and not a treatise on Christian Doctrine, the grace OF God forms the background to this letter. James describes the type of Christian life that God’s children ought to live, and some common sins we should overcome-as children of God whose life is molded by the Grace of God. Come join us in this exciting discussion. Each participant will need a Bible and will be given a complete outline to follow.

  • Survey of the Bible

Led by RICHARD KOLODZIEJCYK/DARRELL WEHLMANN | Chapel

The Bible is the most revered, respected and celebrated books of all time. Since the first published book (a Bible, of course!) rolled off the Gutenberg press over five hundred years ago, it has been a perpetual bestseller, far surpassing sales of any other volume in human history.

For Christians, however, the Bible is not just a bestseller; it is “God’s Word” – a divine message to us in human language.

Some parts of the Bible are easy to understand yet many are not. With its lengthy genealogies, Levitical laws, and apocalyptic visions, even for sincere readers reading with understanding can be a monumental task.

That is what Survey of the Bible is for – to help people understand the big picture of God’s Word.
