Youth Summer Mission

Details about our Youth Summer Mission Trip!

St. John Adult Bible Studies and Sunday School raised funds in the fall of 2018 to help Trinity Lutheran School in Wahiawa, Hawaii send faculty members to be trained in the STEM curriculum. That curriculum has now been introduced to all grade levels. The generosity of St. John’s members also helped put a new roof, flooring, and paint in that school.

This summer 28 of our St. John youth and 7 adults are heading there July 11-20, to lead their VBS, help ignite their youth group, do work around the campus, help with beach clean-up, and work with a group called “Surf the Nations” helping the homeless.

The estimated cost of this trip is $1500.00 per person. Each person’s personal responsibility is $300.OO of that cost. The parents and youth are actively fundraising the balance of this trip. We are very excited and appreciative of the support we have received so far. Our Valentine’s Community Family Dance and T-shirt sale yielded over $3500.00. The Men’s Getaway Weekend held their annual auction and yielded over $6000.00 and donated that to the Mission trip. We have had over $1000.00 come in from various donations. We are now in the process of selling “He is Risen” shelf sitters and Lenten/Easter yard signs. Our next big fundraiser is a Cornhole Tournament, being held on the St. John campus, March 22, 2020 after the 2nd service. There is also going to be a Ladies/Girls Painting party on Sunday, March 29th. It is very exciting to be hosting the Easter Sunday Brunch on Easter morning, 7:30-10:30 a.m. in the Christian Life Center. This will be a free will offering with all proceeds going to the Mission trip.

We appreciate you all and your support, but especially your prayers for the impact for Jesus to be great for the people of Hawaii, for safe travels, for good health, and for our fundraising efforts!
