The New Testament has 27 books: 4 Gospels (literally, good news) and 23 Epistles (letters).  The 4 Gospels tell the story of Jesus life, from detailing his ancestors and the announcement of his coming birth, to his ministry on earth, death and resurrection.  The Epistles tell us about the history, theology, and structure of the early church.
