Baptism Basics

Without water, God’s word is abstract. With the water of baptism, God applies - literally - everything He has done, and all of his promises - to you!
Without the Word of God, you are just wet.
Baptism is God’s action, not ours.
Baptism is not symbolic. In Baptism God is really at work, actually forgiving your sins (past, present and future), creating faith and giving the Holy Spirit.
But it is not “hocus pocus”, the person must believe that God has done what He has done and promised what He has promised, and that it has been given to the person in baptism. Otherwise the baptism will not save the person on its own, apart from faith.
