Jesus Reigns
December 29th - In Your Weakness
You might feel tired and exhausted after this Christmas season. Going into a new Year can be a little daunting. Seeing all of the stuff you’re hanging onto or have to deal with when you get back into the swing of life and work. But Jesus is there. IN IT. He REIGNS IN THE MESS. When you lack anything or feel weak, it’s in your weakness that HE IS STRONG and you are made strong.
December 25th - Love
The bible is replete with references to love, including:
- "His banner over me is love"
- "Beloved let us love one another"
- "God is love"
- "Greater love has no one than this"
All of these references are seen in Christ's coming.
December 24th - Immanuel
God has been reaching out to us for a long time, even if we can't feel it or struggle with asking where he is. Much like Jacob and his ladder, we often try to reach God ourselves. But on Christmas, Christ came to be with us. Into the chaos of our worlds, our families, our lives. With all our faults and stuggles, he drew near to us, even if we struggle to feel it. And that's really good news!
December 18th - Joy
Did you know, the word joy occurs over 203 times in the ESV version of the new testament? Predominantly, these are references to God's character, His actions, our relationship with Him, and His presence with us. Furthermore, Joy was even found at times of suffering, loss, imprisonment, and even grief. Therefore, we can see joy isn't just happiness, it's much deeper than that - watch to find out more about what it REALLY is!
December 15th - Forevermore
Jesus Reign is not just temporary - it's forevermore. Through and above all time, we can rest assured that he reigns now, in the future, and for all eternity. We hope you enjoy St. John's 2024 Christmas Cantata in it's entirety.
December 11th - Peace
When Zechariah lost his voice, it's hard to imagine to imagine he felt any sense of Peace. Yet after his encounter with the angel, he acted with a new found sense of certainty the must have also belied a new sense of peace. Imagine all the things he had to tell his family when he finally regained his voice after 9 months? Imagine the kind of peace we to can draw from God's gracious good will!
December 4th - Hope
Advent is a time of waiting and reflecting. In a sense, we look back and remember the longing of the people of Israel and empathize with their sense of yearning hope. But as Christians, as we reflect on advent in the light of Christ, we also have a great joy in our Christian hope.
